The King James Bible and other leading selling translations state many people will be tormented or tortured in the lake of fire and brimstone. Is that really so? The Greek behind “tormented” reveals something entirely different.

Bull!~!! you talk in circles and make no sense. the Bible also says, whosoever will, let him come, but what about the ones who don’t come. How sad and mixed up theolgy you are spreading. I feel sorry for the people who believe your ignorance.
show hell sound
Thank you, you have given me relief. I have been studying your website today and most of the night. I was very close to taking my own life because of guilt. I can see better now. This was holding me down and I could not free myself from the thoughts of all of my relatives who never really knew Christ and that they would be tormented for ever while I somehow got away from Hell because I came to America and learned of the Love that God has for us. Now I can rest easy this night knowing that if I die this night and through natural causes that I will see my loved ones again. I also feared hell as a literal place, but was willing to die and go there knowing that God had sent most if not all of the people that I love and hold near my heart. I Love God and want to do good in his eyes and I want him to love me and I am sure that he wants to do good to me and not evil to me. Thank You for having this website and showing me the error of my ways. Thanks be to God that he has opened your eyes and you have done the same for me.
Luciano,
All I can say is WOW. I am glad you did not take your life. The author I believe gives people false hope and proves that God is always calling us to repent and turn toward him. He does not provide an alternative or the Bible we can refer to that is “right”. He names the modern translations, but what do we do if we can’t speak or read Greek or Hebrew? What alternative do we have? What do we use to back up this speakers claims? Is he saying that 2 Tim 3:16 is not true (All scripture is inspired by God)? Is all of it inspired by God and if so, then how do we handle scriptures of why Christ came? If Christ is our savior, what are we being saved from? Why did God destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? If there is no hell or punishment for not coming to faith in Christ, then why did Christ die? Where did Jesus go when he died, the spirits in prison (1 Peter 3:19 )?
Jesus says this:
John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. NLT
What happens to those who don’t come to the Father? Where do they go? Something has to happen to them, right?
What does the word repent mean? In Luke 13 we are called to repent. In Luke 13:3 what was the word perish translated from and what is it’s meaning? Is he saying that repent – think differently is wrong? Perish was translated from death, punishment from Strong’s. KJV renders destruction. If there is no punishment then God is a liar, right?
There are so many scriptures that refute what this speaker says. And if one is truly relying on the Holy Spirit, they may come up with touchstone as being an everlasting reminder for those being punished of how they came up short. If the touchstone is to show purification, then in context it would fit these scriptures of how someone who never put their faith in Christ could be reminded forever and ever of how they missed the chance to come to Christ for salvation. Would not a reminder of being absent from God be “hell” enough for someone who claims to know and love God?
The speaker is right if he is talking about a saved person not being judged. We will be admonished of our sin as God is a loving Father to us. But anyone who has not been born into Christ are destined for punishment. It occurs over and over again in the Bible. Rev 20:11 is the White Throne judgment, which leads to the lake of fire. Is this speaker saying that these are wrong in our translations also? What about:
Matt 25:41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. NLT
This is Jesus talking. So if this speaker is saying that these verses are wrong, he eliminates much of the New Testament. He also does not indicate why God had destroyed entire cities for their sin (Sodom and Gomorrah) .
I don’t want to dash your hopes, but that is the importance of the Great Commission of preaching the Gospel – Matthew 28:18-20. If there is no punishment for sin, then there would be no reason to preach Christ, right?
There are many scriptures dealing with false teachers. This fella is one of them and seems to not tell us of all the other scriptures about this subject. If there is no punishment for sin then Christ did not have to die for our sin.
I encourage you to read your Bible asking God to help you understand and give you the hope that you should have so that you can preach to others Christ.
Jim
What is the meaning of such scriptures of this:
Luke 20:17-18
17 Jesus looked at them and said, “Then what does this Scripture mean?
‘The stone that the builders rejected
has now become the cornerstone.’
18 Everyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.” NLT
There are consequences for not coming to Christ. And if there is no Hell what is the consequences of not coming to Christ?
Many other scriptures to be used. In arguments you need not hide scriptures that would contradict your views.
Jim
We need to ask questions of other scripture such as:
Luke 20:35
35 But in the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. NLT
So what happens to those not worthy of being raised from the dead? They have to be some place, so where is it?
Jim

Whatttttttt da hell are you talking about????
Your simple explanation of the word is not consistent to all the scriptures. For example, Matthew 8:29 (demons are speaking to Jesus about future “torment”), Mark 6:48 (the disciples are “toiling” while rowing), Matthew 14:24 (the waves of the sea were “tossed”), and many many many others where your definition would not make sense or apply. It is an inadequate explanation.
